- STUDY OF THE SOUTHERN ROAD AXIS FROM PILALIMATA TO SAINT GEORGIO:
The Southern Road Axis of Crete (NOAK) is the second most important road artery of the island and according to the regional planning it is planned to be upgraded in parts so that cover the increased traffic needs, etcvehicular traffic to be carried out faster and under safer conditions.
In N. Lasithiou, the N.O.A.K. it is the eastward extension of the road axis Viannos Oria N. Heraklion Ierapetra, and extends south from Ierapetra to Pilalima and north from Pilalima ton Sitia.
The road axis Pilalimata to Sitia (road cat. AII by OMOE), a constituent part of the NOAK, has been upgraded in parts in recent years. It is divided into three sections (see figure 1):
1)Section 1: from Pilalima to Ag. Georgios, 10.7 km long
2)Section 2: from Ag. George to PisKokefalo 7.9 km
3)Section 3: from Piscokefalo to Sitia 2.6 km long
For the above sections there is an approved Advanced Road Construction Study and for section 2 a Road Construction Preliminary Study has been prepared and approved.
The subject of this announcement is section 1, 10.73 km long,in order to prepare the necessary studies for the maturation of the project to be built.
