- The Municipality of Florina will upgrade 14 unmarked pedestrian crossings to standards.
The Smart Crossing System detects pedestrians who are about to cross the crossing, through the touch buttons. In a state of rest, the roadway and sidewalk LED type marking remains off forreasons of saving energy and limiting light pollution. Once the sensors are activated, they send a simultaneous signal to LED-type marking devices, which are activated by emitting white light, thus enhancing the horizontal marking of the pedestrian crossing. The system is also accompanied by catvertical LED signs thus achieving the desired light marking effect. This has the result that drivers in vehicles perceive better and from a greater distance the existence of pedestrians at crossings.
