With today's port infrastructure serves the needs for fishing vessels, recreational craft commercial movement with small boats, passenger traffic with the island of Gavdos and Sougia-Agia Roumki-Sfakion coastline.
From the port operation to date, there has been found that existing external projects do not provide satisfactory protection, resulting in a significant wave disturbance in humidas.
