Description:
The ERT Archive includes more than one million documents, many of which are unique, in which the most important events of the history and culture of our country have been recorded since the beginning of the 20th century. It is a unique asset of public broadcasting and an integral part of the intangible cultural heritage of Greece. Its digital preservation, rescue and promotion for the public benefit acts as an accelerator of actions in the field of culture, education and research. It can thus acquire unique utility for the set of citizens.
It includes more than 80% of the total audiovisual cultural wealth of our country. It also has an important radio archive, a photographic archive, a sheet music archive and texts. The biggest part of the Archive is rare, unique and historical in nature. Therefore, it is necessary to save, preserve, digitize, document and highlight it. With the actions implemented within the framework of invitations 65 and 172 of the EP. Information Society, NSRF actions but also with same funding of ERT, a percentage of the order of 7-12% has been saved in the context of its digital audio-visual archive depending on the material carrier.
