Description:
The main objective is the supply of equipment to investigate the behavior of persistent micropollutants during sewage sludge treatment. Specifically, a pilot unit will be built that will combine innovative biological (advanced anaerobic digestion) and thermal methods (hydrothermal coalpoetry) treatment of sludge. The pilot plant will be installed within the site of the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant serving the city of Mytilini. Researchers from the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean will be responsible for its operation. The operation of the unit will bcontribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms related to the removal of organic micropollutants during sludge treatment.
